Story
Wyatt Westlock has one plan for the farmhouse she's just inherited—to burn it to the ground. But during her final walkthrough of her childhood home, she makes a shocking discovery in the basement—Peter, the boy she once considered her best friend, strung up in chains and left for dead. Unbeknownst to Wyatt, Peter has suffered hundreds of ritualistic deaths on her family's property. Semi-immortal, Peter never remains dead for long, but he can't really live, either. Not while he's bound to the farm, locked in a cycle of grisly deaths and painful rebirths.

Publisher's summary
It's the season for treason … The king of Yusan must die.
The five most dangerous liars in the land have been mysteriously summoned to work together for a single objective: to kill the god king Joon. He has it coming. Under his merciless immortal hand, the nobles flourish, while the poor and innocent are imprisoned, ruined…or sold.
And now, each of the five blades will come for him. Each has tasted bitterness—from the hired hit man seeking atonement, a lovely assassin who seeks freedom, or even the prince banished for his cruel crimes. None can resist the sweet, icy lure of vengeance.
They can agree on murder. They can agree on treachery. But for these five killers—each versed in deception, lies, and betrayal—it’s not enough to forge an alliance. To survive, they’ll have to find a way to trust each other…but only one can take the crown.
Let the best liar win.

One peaceful morning, in the small, Puget Sound town of Point Orchards, the lifeless body of Dr. Erin Landry is found hanging from a tree on the property of prodigal son and failed writer, Elijah Leith. Most schools are about being the best. This school? It's about being the worst. Calder Academy is where the rogue paranormals go. The ones who break the rules or lose control. And when that happens for vamps, werewolves, witches, and dark fae? It gets pretty freaking scary. I should know. Because I'm trapped here.

Marlow needs to believe she's crazy. The alternative would mean embracing the gift—or curse—shared by her mother and grandmother: she can see angels and demons, including a dark and haunting entity who's been with Marlow her entire life. At least, she believes that's all he is until a fae from the Nordic pantheon strolls into her life and informs her that she's been sharing a bed with the Prince of Hell.

Story
Dragons are common in the backwater kingdom of Bellemontagne, coming in sizes from mouse-like vermin all the way up to castle-smashing monsters. Gaius Aurelius Constantine Heliogabalus Thrax (who would much rather people call him Robert) has recently inherited his deceased dad’s job as a dragon catcher/exterminator, a career he detests with all his heart in part because he likes dragons, feeling a kinship with them, but mainly because his dream has always been the impossible one of transcending his humble origin to someday become a prince’s valet.

Awesome read!
It's the perfect heist! A group of 5 very different people with very different backgrounds team up to usurp the tyrannical king. They each have their own part to play, and none of them trust each other. It was like a book full of unreliable narrators and you only got the truth in small snippets. And the truths will make you stop and say wtaf... Full cast narration with multiple POV! Awesome read!

It was ok ups and downs
Mostly entertaining, some parts felt rushed while others dragged, I did struggle to follow the names at the beginning then it was ok.
I kind laugh at the end, it was hilarious that the author also realize that and acknowledge thru one of the characters, I would say I’ll check the next one.

I felt as if I was watching a well-written drama play out in real time. The action, the suspense, the romance, the plot twist… so good! I’m completely hooked and can’t wait for book 2! The cast did fantastic and were all very believable.

A heist with a little murder as a treat...
Gorgeous performance by several narrators bring a daring heist to life as the book cycles through points of view. All of the main characters try to puzzle out their partner's motives while trying to succeed in their own. Read this if you like heists, unreliable narrators, and subterfuge. The twist at the end is exactly what you'll suspect until it isn't...

Beautiful narration, and wonderful weaving of plot lines.
A really pleasurable listen, even if there were a few cliche moments, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole book. I liked the different voice actors when normally I prefer a single narrator. I purchased this as my road trip audio book and it did not disappoint. Easy to follow through multiple interruptions, but still kept me guessing to the very end. I hope there is a part two!

❤️❤️❤️❤️
I did like some parts but I think the interpretation of the voice actors and how I imagined or pictured the characters were not coinciding. It threw me off a lot of times and constantly thought how I would perhaps enjoyed it more on physical books. Guess there're books better read as audiobook and ones that are better read through physical copies. Still, it was entertaining and fun.
