Story
Anna Green thought she was marrying Liam “West” Weston for access to subsidized family housing while at UCLA. She also thought she’d signed divorce papers when the graduation caps were tossed, and they both went on their merry ways. Three years later, Anna is a starving artist living paycheck to paycheck while West is a Stanford professor. He may be one of four heirs to the Weston Foods conglomerate, but he has little interest in working for the heartless corporation his family built from the ground up. He is interested, however, in his one-hundred-million-dollar inheritance.

When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Story
Daphne Bell believes the universe has a plan for her. Every time she meets a new man, she receives a slip of paper with his name and a number on it—the exact amount of time they will be together. The papers told her she’d spend three days with Martin in Paris; five weeks with Noah in San Francisco; and three months with Hugo, her ex-boyfriend turned best friend. Daphne has been receiving the numbered papers for over twenty years, always wondering when there might be one without an expiration. Finally, the night of a blind date at her favorite Los Angeles restaurant, there’s only a name: Jake.

Fern Brookbanks has wasted far too much of her adult life thinking about Will Baxter. She spent just twenty-four hours in her early twenties with the aggravatingly attractive, idealistic artist, a chance encounter that spiraled into a daylong adventure in the city. The timing was wrong, but their connection was undeniable: they shared every secret, every dream, and made a pact to meet one year later. Fern showed up. Will didn’t.

Rosie Belmont has been driving me wild for years. The good kind of wild. The bad kind of wild. But mostly the kind of wild that comes with wanting your best friend’s little sister and knowing you can’t have her. After living in the city, she comes blasting back into Rose Hill like a storm. Beautiful, messy, and chaotic. And one wide-eyed desperate plea for a job is all it takes for me to hire her.

They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart. Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without.

Sam’s life is on track. She has the perfect doctor fiancé, Jack (his strict routines are a good thing, really), a great job in Manhattan (unless they fire her), and is about to tour a wedding venue near her family’s Long Island beach house. Everything should go to plan, yet the minute she arrives, Sam senses something is off. Wyatt is here. Her Wyatt. Publisher's summary
A glorious and tantalizing new escape from #1 New York Times bestselling author Carley Fortune.
This summer they’ll keep their promise. This summer they won't give into temptation. This summer will be different.
Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.
It’s easier said than done.
Each year, Lucy escapes to PEI for a big breath of coastal air, fresh oysters and crisp vinho verde with her best friend, Bridget. Every visit begins with a long walk on the beach, beneath soaring red cliffs and a golden sun. And every visit, Lucy promises herself she won’t wind up in Felix’s bed. Again.
If Lucy can’t help being drawn to Felix, at least she’s always kept her heart out of it.
When Bridget suddenly flees Toronto a week before her wedding, Lucy drops everything to follow her to the island. Her mission is to help Bridget through her crisis and resist the one man she’s never been able to. But Felix’s sparkling eyes and flirty quips have been replaced with something new, and Lucy’s beginning to wonder just how safe her heart truly is.

They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Ali Morris is a professional organizer whose own life is a mess. Her mom died two years ago, then her husband left, and she hasn’t worn pants with a zipper in longer than she cares to remember. No one is more surprised than Ali when the first time she takes off her wedding ring and puts on pants with hardware—overalls count, right?—she meets someone. Eileen Merriweather loves to get lost in a good happily-ever-after. The fictional kind, anyway. Because at least imaginary men don’t leave you at the altar. She feels safe in a book. At home. Which might be why she’s so set on going her annual book club retreat this year—she needs good friends, cheap wine, and grand romantic gestures—no matter what. Beautifully written story
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was wonderful! I absolutely loved it and I love Carley Fortune’s writing. It speaks to me. The characters are so relatable and real I feel like I’ve known them my whole life. I now want to visit Prince Edward Island which was a character as much as anyone. This isn’t just a story about romantic love but a love story of best friends. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was perfection. I will definitely listen to this one again.

Lovely setting but not as good as ESA
I was just blown away by Every Summer After, but in my opinion, neither of her next two books came close to that magic. Carley said she had fun writing this, but I’m not sure that totally translated to the page. The PEI descriptions were lovely and definitely made me want to go there. But focusing on Lucy’s relationship with Felix and Bridget made me less invested in either of them. I came away wishing I knew Lucy better than I did.

Immature female characters ruin what could be a great book
Wow. The FMC demonstrates a severe lack of maturity throughout the entire book but it’s more jarring when you realize she’s almost 30 and still reacting like she’s in her early 20’s. She leaves (multiple times) then gets mad and jealous when the MMC picks up the pieces and dates other women. Um, what?
The best friend is a controlling narcissist who seems to make everything about her and also has the maturity of a pre-teen, asking friends and family to drop their ENTIRE LIVES (with no details or timeline) to come coddle her, pre-wedding. And then throws a fit when anyone confronts her about her selfishness.
If the situation was reversed and these characters were men we would be calling them toxic and emotionally abusive.
I was SO excited about this book and normally love this author, but she missed the mark. Authors like Emily Henry and Abby Jiminez have proven you can have likable, yet flawed characters who aren’t obnoxious and immature. Only Felix was worth the time of this book, sadly.

I laughed and cried! I loved this book as much as Every Summer After, which I adored! The chemistry between Lucy and Felix is off the charts!!! The loyal friendship between Lucy and Brigitte is so sweet. This is such a great feel good story that kept pulling me along that I couldn’t put it down. I will read this one again and again. Love Story with Layers
This book was a breath of fresh air. The love story is so pure, so good. Even more than Lucy & Felix’s love story was that of chasing dreams, platonic love between friends and for family members, the adoration of favorite places. It gave all the warm and fuzzies. I find myself wanting to visit Prince Edward Island and craving oysters. My second favorite now by Carly!

It’s been a while since I’ve fallen in love with a love story. Finally something good! I felt the connection, the build up. And I really enjoyed both their personalities. Lots of spice, lots of angst. Their relationship grew over time. Realistic and I loved every second! Wonderful narrating !!!
